I had a feeling that Spider-Man would make it to the finals of the Marvel bracket, even though he was the number two seed, I truly had no idea that he’d be facing off against the number five seed in Thor! Spidey wins! If only, we could smash them up and have them BOTH move on to the finals, what would that look like? Perhaps you don’t want to contribute to the poll, that’s cool. You do your thing. You can tweet your choice. Just don’t forget the hashtag #LBHQuery so I can track them down easier and we’ll go from there! Next week, the finals! No breaks, we’re getting right into...

I messed up. I was wrong. Usually, I’ll make the joke ‘I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken’ but no, this is inexcusable to me. The second semi finals match up in the Marvel bracket pits the number seven seed Daredevil: Against the number five seed, Thor: On the show, I said the Thing instead of Thor. Thor beat the Thing last round. I’m really bummed I made such an oversight. Thor wins, 9 to 7 Perhaps you don’t want to contribute to the poll, that’s cool. You do your thing. You can tweet your choice. Just don’t forget the hashtag #LBHQuery so I can track them down easier and we’ll go from there! These are the match ups I live for. Two folks close in the tournament who ironically, outside of a recent cartoon appearance, have never shared (many easily found) comic panels together. The first semi final match up in the Marvel bracket sees the number two seed, Spider-Man: takes on the number three seed, Rocket Raccoon: Spider-Man wins Perhaps you don’t want to contribute to the poll, that’s cool. You do your thing. You can tweet your choice. Just don’t forget the hashtag #LBHQuery so I can track them down easier and we’ll go from there! For two characters in the same profession (lawyers) you would think that Jen Walters and Matt Murdock would have crossed over way more than they have. This battle here is only the third time in 10 years that the number seven seed, Daredevil: takes on the number sixteen seed, She-Hulk: Daredevil wins, 9-6 Perhaps you don’t want to contribute to the poll, that’s cool. You do your thing. You can tweet your choice. Just don’t forget the hashtag #LBHQuery so I can track them down easier and we’ll go from there! This is a tough one for me. I’ve come to like our number five seed, Thor, quite a bit in these last few years. The number fourteen seed, the Thing, is a perennial favorite of everyone. But every image of the two of them together looks like this: Maybe things will be different in the polls. Thor wins, 17 to 4 Also, look at this beautiful Jack Kirby piece of them together: Perhaps you don’t want to contribute to the poll, that’s cool. You do your thing. You can tweet your choice. In what is maybe the most shocking thing I’ve ever seen, these two characters have never appeared in the same book together. But Bing has led me astray before, maybe you can find a (non-fan art) panel where our number three seed, Rocket Raccoon: appeared together with our number four seed, Deadpool? Rocket Raccoon wins 13 to 6 I will never not use Skottie Young art for these! Perhaps you don’t want to contribute to the poll, that’s cool. You do your thing. You can tweet your choice. Just don’t forget the hashtag #LBHQuery so I can track them down easier and we’ll go from there! Just to keep track, here’s the current standings in the Marvel Bracket: Next week, we’re back to DC as two folks tangentially linked, yet when it comes to powers, are on opposite ends of the spectrum, but may be more even of a match up then you may realize. I tried. I really did. Todd claimed I could find it, but alas, my searches bore no fruit. So, here we are round six of the Marvel side of the bracket and no picture of these two together. Which two? Well, it’s the number six seed Star-Lord: Getting a bit of a boost from being featured in a smash hit movie last summer and the lead of his own book, he takes on the number fourteen seed, the ever lovin’ blue eyed Thing, Ben Grimm: I saw this pic of him as a Fancy Gentleman and had to use it! Marvel and DC, continuing to make things easy for my image searches. This week brings us a battle we’ve seen before as the number five seed, Thor: Takes on the number thirteen seed, the Silver Surfer: Strangely, many of these Silver Surfer covers are all over Pintrest. Now, these are the way these two characters look in the 2000’s, however, I would be remiss to not include one of the most iconic covers of all time: I don’t think this cover could cause any issues among anyone online. As I mentioned on the show this week, Marvel so far has made it easy for me to find images for these posts of the two characters together in the same panel. I may have jinxed myself, but I will not use ‘fan art’ unless I have to. This week, that is not an issue. Round four sees the Merc with a Mouth and the number four seed, Deadpool take on the number twelve seed, the Punisher: Somehow, these two characters are the same and completely different at the same time which has seen them do battle many, many times, heck, they have even teamed up recently in the Thunderbolts: This voting will be the ONLY place where there will be a decisive winner, based on your choice! Deadpool wins 17 to 16 Perhaps you don’t want to contribute to the poll, that’s cool. You do your thing. You can tweet your choice. It’s been one week since the latest Marvel movie offering graced the silver screen and smashed box office records. So in this special one-shot, Todd and Leonard sit down and talk all things Guardians of the Galaxy. Their humble beginnings, their revitalization in the mid-2000’s under the helm of Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning, when Todd & Leonard actually started reading the book and more. The boys also get deep on the Guardians of the Galaxy movie and talk many, many plot points, cameos and the post credit sequence. This leads to postulation that the Marvel cinematic universe is actually FOUR different franchises. Transformers vs. G.I. Joe #0 – Guest Review...
posted by Joe
The first comic book I ever put my hard earned, adolescent cash down for was G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #14. To this day, I know where I purchased that book: United Dairy Farmers, the corner market, in my home town. Back then, the United Dairy Farmers would give you 10 cents for each glass cola bottle you brought in. I had collected seven, thus covering my 60 cent cover price and a little extra for tax. I still have that first page indelibly inscribed in my psyche. Three legendary characters: Snake-Eyes, Dr Venom, and Kwinn, the Eskimo mercenary. From that point on, G.I. Joe was the book I collected. Larry Hama was the God of all things Joe. It was not until three years later that I was given my first superhero book (X-Factor #7) and I fell hard for collecting everything I could get my hands on. Shortly after I discovered G.I. Joe, I discovered Transformers #1 at the same corner market. It is worth remembering, that this was the 1980s, and there were no larger powerhouses of comic, cartoon, and toy lines aimed at kids, than these two behemoths. G.I. Joe and Transformers defined my childhood and taught me the value of storytelling which remains with me to this day. Both were must-read comics (the true canon) and must-see cartoons (as filler between months waiting for the next published panel). G.I. Joe and Transformers have had a multitude of adaptations over the decades. Within the comic book genre alone, both have been bastardized by commercialism, suffered 90s angst and been made extreme, and also wandered down the dark road that turned them morbid and gritty. At times, both licenses have thrived and suffered from these interpretations. In the 1980s, and...
Special Edition NYC 2014 Convention Report...

I went to the first New York Special Edition Con. Run by Reed Pop, who do the huge New York Comic Con in October which is basically the east coast San Diego Comic Con. You know MEDIA GUESTS! ANIMIE! VIDEO GAMES! MOVIE NEWS! CON EXCLUSIVES! and some comic stuff. Well, Reed Pop decided to take a page out of the Baltimore Comic Con’s play book and have a con with *gasp* just comic retailers, comic creators, and some publishers. For what it’s worth, here is my take on it. I purchased my ticket months ago when it was announced for $35. It was for Saturday only. Which I didn’t even blink at because The NYCC Saturday pass is $50 and the Wizard World Saturday pass is $55. So all in all, I think it’s not a bad price. My only knock is that a Sunday pass is also $35 and I think it would be better for them if each one day pass was $35 and they had a two day pass option which would give you a discount like other cons for say maybe $50. With ticket in hand and then hanging from my neck on the lanyard they provided, I made my way to the waiting line. It wasn’t a huge waiting line, it was about what I expected and people were happily chatting waiting to be let in to the show floor. As 10 o’clock drew closer, the crowd started a countdown and the staff started letting people in right on time. They handled the crowd quite well and I had no problems. As I walked down the hall to the show floor, I heard the theme to Tim Burton’s Batman blasting. As I got closer, I saw there was a...
Weekly Question 06/12/14 #LBHQuery...

Since many of you may be coming to the show (and the site) for the first time, we decided to post our weekly question on the site. NOT because Todd & Leonard forgot to mention it during the show. One of the news topics we discussed on this week’s episode was the rumors from the DIRT SHEETZ about Marvel cancelling Fantastic Four in preparation for the pending movie reboot from Fox. To me, this is crazy! One of the original Marvel superhero books, no longer being published? Only guest appearances in other books? Is this something that could happen? Is this something that should happen? And that’s the question to you: is there a property, whether it be Marvel, DC, Dark Horse or other, that could stop being published in their own books? Is it due to over exposure? Have they overstayed their welcome? Or do they just rub you the wrong way? Just tweet us with your answer using the hash tag #LBHQuery (thanks David Kincannon!). Don’t like or have Twitter? Need more room to explain your choice? Just leave a comment on this post! We’ll compile up all the answers and talk about them on next week’s...
