Not even out of the first round and we have what could be considered an upset! I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Indie side braking a lot of people’s perceptions. Now, onto the Marvel bracket! As mentioned on the show this week (episode 33) this one was kismet: The number one seed, Wolverine, takes on the number nine seed, the Hulk! We actually have proof that these two have locked horns before and now you, our great listeners, decide who moves on! Perhaps you don’t want to contribute to the poll, that’s cool. You do your thing. You can tweet your choice. Just don’t forget the hashtag #LBHQuery so I can track them down easier and we’ll go from there! Next week, we look at the next matchup in the DC...

Happy Thanksgiving, Holidays, Shopping whatever you are doing this weekend. Hopefully listening to our latest episode. Maybe you already did and were brought here by that, so let’s get right to it! The Justice Society of America. The team that started it all. The very first time a group of heroes banded together to face a greater evil. Without them, there would be no Justice League, no Avengers, no Guardians of the Galaxy. Ok, maybe that last one is a stretch. The JSA (more recent shorthand for the team) of late has been the legacy team where the kids or ancestors of the original group are part of the team or people carrying on the mantle of past heroes, making the Society fell more like a family than any other team. Due to DC wonky time line (Todd would say “Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey”) pretty much everyone has been a member of the Justice Society of America. So the question this week, who is your favorite member ever of the Justice Society? Whomever it is, just tweet at us with the hashtag #LBHQuery or if you need more than 140 characters, tell us below and we’ll talk about it all on next week’s...

We here at Longbox Heroes read a lot of comics. Just wait until you see this week’s Pull Post, And in that, we come across books that we run hot and cold on. There are books that will be perennially on our lists, for me Spider-Man, for Todd, anything with a barbarian in it. But there are times when a character we love just isn’t doing “it” anymore. I became a Captain America fan back in the pre-Heroes Reborn world when Mark Waid took over the title and LOVED it! And since then, every time a new creative team comes on to Steve Rodgers’ adventures, I give it a try. Currently, Cap is cold for me, and that’s not a frozen in a block of ice pun. Other times, it’s a change in direction of the book. You’ll see plastered across the cover “All-New! All-Different!” or “A Bold New Chapter in so and so’s Life!” and a lot of times it’s writer looking to make his mark after taking over a widely successful book or the existing creative team trying to shake things. Sometimes it works, sometimes it causes people to head for the hills. Where am I going with this? What is the current book that you wish was better? We all love comics! That’s why were on the site and listening to the show. Both other than collect and read comics, what else do you do? Do you collect statues or busts? I used to! Then my wife broke my favorite one (Kang) and so did my heart. That, and the pending arrival of the Man made me decide having rooms filled with expensive and fragile representations of things he (now) loves would be a recipe for disaster. Or are you like our very own Todd who has more original comic book art than most museums? Or am I wrong about Todd and he has yet another comic book related passion? So that to you, dear listener and reader, is our question this week. Other than the actual reading of comics, do you have another related hobby spinning from the world of comic books? Just tweet at us with the hashtag #LBHQuery or if you need more than 140 characters, tell us below and we’ll talk about it all on next week’s...

San Diego Comic Con is upon us. The Juggernaut of comic book conventions. The one where everything happens. Many people have lamented over less actual comic announcements happening at SDCC with more focus to non-comic related properties (Hello, Twilight!) To me, I’m OK with anything that gets them in the door. Especially now with both Marvel and DC having such heavy presence on TV and the silver screen, there will be tons of those sort of announcements. Where the concern comes in is the actual comic announcements getting overshadowed by all this. Which is why companies like BOOM! and Image went and made their announcements before the convention actually began. So this week question to you is what do you want to see announced at SDCC? A new Star Wars book from Marvel? The return of the pre-52 DC Universe? Official word on what Warner Bros is doing with the DC movie universe? A Moon Knight TV show? Just tweet at us with the hashtag #LBHQuery or if you need more than 140 characters, tell us below and we’ll talk about it all on next week’s...

Earlier this week, as mentioned on the show this week, Marvel announced some big changes for Thor: Come this October, the one who wields the Hammer will be female. People were up in arms over this! Like it never happened before. This is comics folks, everything changes! Heck, my friend Gavin wrote an article about the other SEVEN TIMES that Thor was a woman. And that got me thinking, this isn’t the first time Marvel has done this. A few years back, Pepper Potts donned a version of the Iron Man armor as Rescue. Back in the 90’s, in the MC2 universe, Captain America was replaced by Sharon Carter’s niece as American Dream. That can”t be right…oh wait, here’s the correct image. Whilst these were mostly temporary, DC is not above adding to their universe female representations of their popular male heroes, like Supergirl and Batgirl to name a few So what about you? What is your favorite gender swapped comic book character? Was it from a ‘What If’ or ‘Elseworlds’? Was it female to male? What about the baddies? I’m sure someone out there likes the Joker’s Daughter! Let us know in the comments section below or tweet them to us with the hashtag...

Let’s start of by saying Captain America is awesome! I think he gets a bad rap for being too patriotic, or too much of a boy scout, like Superman. Does this this look like a ‘boy scout’ to you? I’m guilty of this myself as I didn’t start reading Cap until the mid 90’s, right before the ‘Heroes Reborn’ Marvel project happened. Since then, Steven Rogers has gotten a lot more play in the Marvel Universe, but it wasn’t until the Ultimate Universe where we got this, almost career defining moment. Not my favorite portrayal of the character, but based on his, and the rest of the Avengers reimagining in the Ultimates, we ultimately were lead right into the Marvel cinematic universe, most recently, this year’s Captain America: the Winter Soldier. So the question this week to you, gentle listener, what is your favorite Captain America story? Is it from the Ultimate universe, is it from the classic Mark Gruenwald run from the 80’s or something more current? Just leave your choice in the comments below or shoot us a tweet with the hashtag #LBHQuery. If my entire household had a vote, it’d be the video...
Weekly Question 06/25/14 #LBHQuery...

This week’s question involves possibly the most popular comic book character, the most recognizable of them all: BATMAN! Batman has been around for 75 years (big celebration coming from DC Comics next month) and outside of some film serials from the 40’s, for the longest time, the above visage of Adam West as the Caped Crusader was all most people knew of Batman. All that changed this week 25 years ago. Perhaps inspired by Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns, the first outside of comics media appearance of Batman starred Michael Keaton as the aforementioned Dark Knight and the scene stealing performance by Jack Nicholson as the Joker. From there, the blitz began. Batman was EVERYWHERE! Toys, cups, shirts, even haircuts and the roll has not stopped since. Batman has gone onto star in multiple movies and animated series as well. Some would argue that Batman’s appearances in the recent “Arkham” video games is his most successful and popular portrayal. But our question to you, gentle listener/reader, is OUTSIDE of comics, what is your favorite take on Batman in popular media? Just tweet us with your answer using the hash tag #LBHQuery. Weekly Question 06/18/14 #LBHQuery...

As will be the procedure going forward, all our weekly question will not be contained to the show or Twitter! We’re bringing it to the site! Since the inception of Green Lantern, that was all there was. Sure, when things changed from the Golden Age to the Silver Age and from Alan Scott to Hal Jordan, they added thousands of new Lanterns, but all just one color: Green. Then in 2006, that all changed: After Sinestro was brought back by Geoff Johns as the main villain in Green Lantern’s universe, a second color Corps was added, Yellow in the widely successful Sinestro Corps War event. Then another, and another and so on. There was a Corps and rings for every color on the spectrum. Then we added the Black and White Lantern Corps with events to go along with them. All of these Corps had spanning rosters, tons of merchandising and cameos by the biggest and brightest in the DC Universe. This concept was so popular, when DC rebooted their entire line in 2011 with the New 52, outside of Batman, Green Lantern was the other property relatively unchanged. And that’s the question to you: Who is your favorite ring bearer? Is it cookie cutter Hal as a Green Lantern? Is it the above the three panels when Batman was a member of the Sinestro Corps? Since many of you may be coming to the show (and the site) for the first time, we decided to post our weekly question on the site. NOT because Todd & Leonard forgot to mention it during the show. One of the news topics we discussed on this week’s episode was the rumors from the DIRT SHEETZ about Marvel cancelling Fantastic Four in preparation for the pending movie reboot from Fox. To me, this is crazy! One of the original Marvel superhero books, no longer being published? Only guest appearances in other books? Is this something that could happen? Is this something that should happen? And that’s the question to you: is there a property, whether it be Marvel, DC, Dark Horse or other, that could stop being published in their own books? Is it due to over exposure? Have they overstayed their welcome? Or do they just rub you the wrong way? Just tweet us with your answer using the hash tag #LBHQuery (thanks David Kincannon!). Don’t like or have Twitter? Need more room to explain your choice? Just leave a comment on this post! We’ll compile up all the answers and talk about them on next week’s...
