Here it is. The final final first round match up, closing out the Marvel side of things. Soon, I will be posting the brackets in full so you can see where the tournament is going forward. But first, let’s get down to it! In this corner, the number eight seed, Captain America, Sam Wilson! As he faces of with Mighty Avengers teammate, the Sensational She-Hulk, Jennifer Walters! She-Hulk wins, 14 to 13 Perhaps you don’t want to contribute to the poll, that’s cool. You do your thing. You can tweet your choice. Just don’t forget the hashtag #LBHQuery so I can track them down easier and we’ll go from there! Next week, we take a break from the tournament and go back to the old way of doing...
Weekly Question 09/23/14 #LBHQuery...

We here at Longbox Heroes read a lot of comics. Just wait until you see this week’s Pull Post, And in that, we come across books that we run hot and cold on. There are books that will be perennially on our lists, for me Spider-Man, for Todd, anything with a barbarian in it. But there are times when a character we love just isn’t doing “it” anymore. I became a Captain America fan back in the pre-Heroes Reborn world when Mark Waid took over the title and LOVED it! And since then, every time a new creative team comes on to Steve Rodgers’ adventures, I give it a try. Currently, Cap is cold for me, and that’s not a frozen in a block of ice pun. Other times, it’s a change in direction of the book. You’ll see plastered across the cover “All-New! All-Different!” or “A Bold New Chapter in so and so’s Life!” and a lot of times it’s writer looking to make his mark after taking over a widely successful book or the existing creative team trying to shake things. Sometimes it works, sometimes it causes people to head for the hills. Where am I going with this? What is the current book that you wish was better? Just tweet at us with the hashtag #LBHQuery or if you need more than 140 characters, tell us below and we’ll talk about it all on next week’s...
Weekly Question 07/18/14 #LBHQuery...

Earlier this week, as mentioned on the show this week, Marvel announced some big changes for Thor: Come this October, the one who wields the Hammer will be female. People were up in arms over this! Like it never happened before. This is comics folks, everything changes! Heck, my friend Gavin wrote an article about the other SEVEN TIMES that Thor was a woman. And that got me thinking, this isn’t the first time Marvel has done this. A few years back, Pepper Potts donned a version of the Iron Man armor as Rescue. Back in the 90’s, in the MC2 universe, Captain America was replaced by Sharon Carter’s niece as American Dream. That can”t be right…oh wait, here’s the correct image. Whilst these were mostly temporary, DC is not above adding to their universe female representations of their popular male heroes, like Supergirl and Batgirl to name a few So what about you? What is your favorite gender swapped comic book character? Was it from a ‘What If’ or ‘Elseworlds’? Was it female to male? What about the baddies? I’m sure someone out there likes the Joker’s Daughter! Let us know in the comments section below or tweet them to us with the hashtag...

Let’s start of by saying Captain America is awesome! I think he gets a bad rap for being too patriotic, or too much of a boy scout, like Superman. Does this this look like a ‘boy scout’ to you? I’m guilty of this myself as I didn’t start reading Cap until the mid 90’s, right before the ‘Heroes Reborn’ Marvel project happened. Since then, Steven Rogers has gotten a lot more play in the Marvel Universe, but it wasn’t until the Ultimate Universe where we got this, almost career defining moment. Not my favorite portrayal of the character, but based on his, and the rest of the Avengers reimagining in the Ultimates, we ultimately were lead right into the Marvel cinematic universe, most recently, this year’s Captain America: the Winter Soldier. So the question this week to you, gentle listener, what is your favorite Captain America story? Is it from the Ultimate universe, is it from the classic Mark Gruenwald run from the 80’s or something more current? Just leave your choice in the comments below or shoot us a tweet with the hashtag #LBHQuery. If my entire household had a vote, it’d be the video...
Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. Exhibit Report...

While I was at Special Edition NYC (see my report here), my friends and I decided to leave the con and get some lunch and then wander over to the Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. (Scientific Training and Tactical Intelligence Operative Network) Exhibit on 44th Street. I had heard about it from Leonard and the con was giving out fliers which doubled as coupons for $5 off admission. When we got there we found that they also had the $5 coupons as soon as you come in (I definitely recommend grabbing one of these coupons as an adult admission is $27.00 & a child is $19.50. So depending on how many tickets you are purchasing that could end up being a huge savings). After we got our tickets, we were led downstairs to wait in line. While waiting, you are asked to sign up to be an agent of S.H.I.E.LD. by supplying your name and email address in one of the many machines along the queue. When finished, you receive a card with your name on it which works with many of the interactive exhibits. Also, this was when the staff briefs the new agents about everything available in the exhibit and intel about the Avengers, which really added to the experience. As you’re led in, an Agent stops you, checks your ID and tells you to stand in front of a green screen for the “last civilian picture you will ever take.” Also, you have to do your best superhero pose because the Avengers team will be put in behind you. Then, you are led to a waiting area and yelled at a little – after all you are raw recruits. And by yelled at I mean they give you the rules. The most important of...
