What a long, strange trip its been. We are are the finals, a few bumps along the road, but we have our final three. First, representing DC Comics, with victories over the Flash, Aquaman, Batgirl and Superman – the BATMAN! Next, representing Marvel Comics, defeating Ms. Marvel, the Hulk, Rocket Raccoon and Thor – the AMAZING SPDIER-MAN! And last but not least, representing indie comics, specifically Dynamite Comics, laying the smack down on such luminaries as Hellboy, Michaelangelo, Conan and Groo, the She-Devil with a Sword – RED SONJA! Spider-Man wins! Perhaps you don’t want to contribute to the poll, that’s cool. You do your thing. You can tweet your choice. Just don’t forget the hashtag #LBHQuery so I can track them down easier and we’ll go from there! Next week, we ask you the first of two stand by questions for the end of the...
Weekly Question DC Bracket Finals 11/19/15...
posted by Joe
This year with the Weekly Question has been an experiment. An experience that has yeilded some suggess (spelled wrong on purpose) but some people predicted it would be too easy to predict the finals. The other two brackets ended up surprising me, at the very least, but leave it to DC to keep things even. The finals of the DC bracket sees the number one seed, Batman take on the number five seed, Superman! Batman wins 16 to 5 And with all the Dark Knight 3 talk, I had to include one of my favorite, most inconic images of all time featuring these two: Perhaps you don’t want to contribute to the poll, that’s cool. You do your thing. You can tweet your choice. Just don’t forget the hashtag #LBHQuery so I can track them down easier and we’ll go from there! Just to keep track, here’s the current standings in the DC Bracket: Next week, it the finals of the indie bracket and I will do my best to make sure the fix isn’t...
Weekly Question DC Bracket Round Two Match One 07/09/15...
posted by Joe
Every hero fights every hero. From the first time they meet to every time there is a slight disagreement. This seems to be the case more often than not in the DC Universe, especially in the last few years. Which leads us to the first match up of the second round of the DC bracket as the number one seed, Batman, takes on the number ten seed, Aquaman! Batman wins, 20 to 18 How much better would all our lives be if THIS was the Batman/Aquaman relationship we all knew as ‘canon.’ OUTRAGEOUS! Perhaps you don’t want to contribute to the poll, that’s cool. You do your thing. You can tweet your choice. Just don’t forget the hashtag #LBHQuery so I can track them down easier and we’ll go from there! And just to get you ready, here’s what the DC bracket looks like! Next week, we look to the second round of the indie bracket with another sure thing taking on another upset from the prior round. Who will move...
Weekly Question DC Bracket Round One 01/08/15...
posted by Joe
So here we are, trying new things for the site. In 2015, barring a few breaks, we are going to be having a mega tournament to determine the official Longbox Heroes Character. There will be three Brackets, DC, Marvel and Indies, of sixteen characters each. Whilst many of these characters have different versions in media (TV shows, movies, etc.) or even past version, my mindset for this tournament is the current version shown in the comics. We will alternate between the three brackets each week, starting with DC. The first match of the first round sees the number one seed, Batman: Take on the number nine seed, the Flash (Barry Allen): Make your case heard. The person with the most votes moves on to the next round. Perhaps you don’t want to contribute to the poll, that’s cool. You can tweet your choice. Just don’t forget the hashtag #LBHQuery so I can track them down easier and we’ll go from there! Next week, we start the Indie...

Weekly Question 06/25/14 #LBHQuery...
posted by Joe
This week’s question involves possibly the most popular comic book character, the most recognizable of them all: BATMAN! Batman has been around for 75 years (big celebration coming from DC Comics next month) and outside of some film serials from the 40’s, for the longest time, the above visage of Adam West as the Caped Crusader was all most people knew of Batman. All that changed this week 25 years ago. Perhaps inspired by Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns, the first outside of comics media appearance of Batman starred Michael Keaton as the aforementioned Dark Knight and the scene stealing performance by Jack Nicholson as the Joker. From there, the blitz began. Batman was EVERYWHERE! Toys, cups, shirts, even haircuts and the roll has not stopped since. Batman has gone onto star in multiple movies and animated series as well. Some would argue that Batman’s appearances in the recent “Arkham” video games is his most successful and popular portrayal. But our question to you, gentle listener/reader, is OUTSIDE of comics, what is your favorite take on Batman in popular media? Just tweet us with your answer using the hash tag #LBHQuery. Don’t like or have Twitter? Need more room to explain your choice? Just leave a comment on this post! We’ll compile up all the answers and talk about them on next week’s...

Denver Comic Con 2014 – Guest Post...
posted by Longbox Heroes
This was Denver Comic Con’s 3rd year, but the first one I’ve been able to attend as my better half surprised me with tickets for our anniversary. She’s new to comics, but was excited to learn more with me & see her beloved Power Rangers. To give you a frame of reference, Denver’s first year was pretty small, but last year saw a huge jump in attendance. They weren’t prepared for the spike & just couldn’t handle the lines. This led to horror stories of five hour waits. Luckily this year they figured out line management. Luckily, we got there about an hour before badge exchange. The line was long, but it moved very smoothly. The poor dude in a Punisher costume had to keep reminding his Spider-Kids that there were no places in line to pee. Friday was a lot of fun. We started the day watching a Q&A with the Blue Ranger (David Yost), Black Ranger (Walter Jones) & Lord Zed (Robert Axelrod). The main event room had a crazy echo that made it hard for the panel guests to hear the fans questions, so Yost took matters into his own hands by moving the microphones closer to the stage. They mostly talked about being role models and stuff like that, but I enjoyed the tales of pranks. I guess the Green Ranger (Jason David Frank) really enjoyed ribbing Yost. Heeding Todd’s advice about cons, we took advantage of the small Friday morning crowd to explore the merch area & artist alley. Quite the sensory overload, but we got good recon to plan our weekend. We marked out pretty hard when we sat in the 1960’s Batmobile. It was neat chatting with the owner about the history of the car. Our buddies...
